Whilst reflexology can be hugely beneficial  some clients may be experiencing conditions that may be contraindictions for treatment (long or short term) or may require a more gentle treatment plan. Please see the lists below to see if any of these conditions are relevant to you. This is not a complete list. Clients can feel assured that during the first treatment a thorough consultation is undertaken to discuss previous or current medical conditions.

Contraindictions to receiving treatment

  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

  • Pulmonary Embolism (PE)

  • Treatment on Warfarin or other anticoagulants

  • severe cases of cellulitis

  • contagious infection or disease

  • some immeninent medical tests or procedures

  • first trimester of pregnancy

caution may be taken

  • acute undiagnosed pain  (patient in extreme discomfort)

  • unstabilised heart conditions

  • severe varicose veins

  • verucae

  • recent surgery

  • any condition in which the client is very weak. We would discuss whether a gentle treatment may be beneficial on a case by case basis

Clients are kindly reminded that reflexology does not claim to cure or diagnose and at times a reflexologist may recommend you seek relevant professional medical advice. Reflexology can be hugely beneficial to support healing, treat underlying causes as well as alleviate symptoms.

It is reccommended that clients take a proactive approach to their own healing and see reflexology as part of this. A holistic approach involves action from all sides to combat a problem.
